Monday Ofcom rodeo round-up: Parliament, Nick Reynolds, Des Freedman, Mobile conference, Google, Grindhouse
Hey people, here’s what shakin’ this week:
– On Tuesday the 22nd at 10:30 am, Ofcom CEO Ed Richards and Chair Lord David Currie appear before Parliament’s two select committees with oversight responsibility in its sectors (T&I, CMS). You can probably watch it streamed live here.
I predict a riot.
– Nick Reynolds has a series of posts concerning the recent Ofcom review of Public Service Broadcasting.
That’s phase one of the second PSB review … got it?
– Des Freedman of Goldsmiths has a new book out — ‘The Politics of Media Policy‘. It looks very interesting.
– Have nothing to do on the 11th and 12th of June? Why not go to Brussels and attend ViB events: Mobile Regulation and Competition Law Conference.
– Here at OfcomWatch we are used to being ignored by the great and the good. But Google … oh … Google… they dropped our site completely for several weeks because we did not meet their quality guidelines — no doubt Ofcom would have agreed — because of some spam that leaked-in through our comments system. That seems to be all repaired now and Google has welcomed us back into the mothership. But for a few weeks there, we were nearly invisible to the world. Pleased to see that we still had good readership during that time from our regulars (both of you).
Go on type Ctrl-D now …
– I finally saw the first part of Grindhouse* this weekend. Here’s a clip for fans of the Byron Review:
*It was a low culture Friday night, but I did see The Minotaur at the ROH on Saturday night.
