FCC’s Dems slam NTIA broadband report…

I kind of miss watching policy-making unfold at the U.S. Federal Communications Commission. Someone is always angry! (In the UK, I think I am the only angry one … with the exception of Ryanair’s Peter Sherrard). Unlike Ofcom, the funny thing about the FCC is the partisan split on the 5-member Commission. Normally things go smoothly but occasionally the sparks fly. At Ofcom, by contrast, the heated debates — if they ever occur — are behind closed doors.

Yesterday it was the Bush administration’s report — issued through an agency of the Department of Commerce — on broadband, called Networked Nation that got the Dems excited. Here’s Commissioner Copps:

It would be great for the Tories to get this critical on media and communications policy in the U.K.

Don’t hold your breath…
