Monday round-up…
* We have a new poll up (over to the right). This time we ask our readers to comment on the Channel 4 future / funding issue currently under consultation at Ofcom. Our last poll asked readers to comment on how Ed Richards was doing. He got mixed reviews: About an equal number of people said he was leading Ofcom in the right direction as said Richards was leading Ofcom in the wrong direction. A significant number of people think it is too soon to judge Richards’ performance. As you can imagine, our poll is less reliable than a Belorussian ballot box — it’s just for fun.
* Andrew Heaney is leaving Ofcom to take a top position at Carphone Warehouse. I have met Andrew a few times and found him to be a real asset for Ofcom… I’m hoping his arrival at Carphone Warehouse will mean my dismal Talk Talk service improves!
* Tomorrow at 10 am at Portcullis House the Culture, Media and Sport Committee and the Trade and Industry Committee will hold a joint session on Ofcom’s Annual Plan. In the dock Witnesses include Lord Currie and Ed Richards of Ofcom. Luke and I will be there, suitably attired in our Batman and Robin uniforms, a la Fathers for Justice.
* Keith at Telebusillis shows the numbers put forth by the Broadband Stakeholders Group on fibre-to-the-xxxx investment by global carriers. BT? Not on the list. Luke and I are on this issue like white-on-rice. More later…
* James Enck stopped blogging last week… or hopefully just suspended until some future date. This places a heavy burden on me — I’m now the sole remaining Tennessean blogging in the UK on media and communications issues.
Stay tuned…
