Don’t order Talk Talk for broadband
People may have read recently about Talk Talk’s bad press due to its promotions and seeming inability to provide service or customer service to its broadband customers:
About 100,000 of the 500,000 people who have persisted with their application for the firm’s ‘free broadband forever’ offer, launched in April, are still waiting to be connected, while many of those who have signed up have contacted Cash to say that they have lost their phone line, broadband service or both.
* Count me as problem 100,001. My flatmate and I have been having problems with Talk Talk since the beginning of October. We’ve called probably over 20 times, and keep getting inconsistent answers and poor service. And no broadband and no broadband in sight. We cannot even get a Talk Talk person on the phone to cancel our services and move to BT or another provider.
* We tried Ofcom’s ADR approach - and went to OTELO. OTELO, unfortunately requires the problem linger for 3 months before they will take action. 3 months is an eternity when you need broadband and cannot get it. Ofcom should require the ADR schemes to amend their procedures to act sooner.
* So, in three months — sometime after Christmas — I’ll be able to report on how Ofcom’s ADR scheme works. Until then, I’m on the wrong side of the digital divide for the first time in life!
So it’s my personal opinion that you avoid should Talk Talk - you’ll probably be happy you did.
