Ofcom concession leads to withdrawal of judicial review

The threat of a judicial review of Ofcom’s consultation on the TV advertising of junk food has receded after what the campaigners see as a major concession. The National Heart Forum says Ofcom has today agreed to send a further consultation document to all interested parties, with the recently revised data on the impact of a 9pm watershed, and a covering letter welcoming all views on that option. Those who have already responded may revise their response.

The NHF in return is withdrawing its application for judicial review, but remains wary as to whether this means there will now be a genuine willingness to consider the 9pm watershed option.
