Ofcom contact blues

I had an interesting experience with Ofcom today. I called them up with a question about a document on their website and was told that the competition and marketing section dealt with the particular document. Fair enough. Could I speak to someone in that section I asked? Apparently, no. For some reason these poor people are not allowed to speak on the phone, and I was told that I would have to either email or write to them , and that they would reply within 10 days. Very helpful.

It’s a bit like trying to find a general enquiries email address on Ofcom’s site in fact. If I’m a member of the press there is an address , if I want to contact a member of the Senior Management Group directly, there are addresses ; if I want to email the national and regional offices, there are addresses ; if I want to get someone from Ofcom to come and talk at an event there is an addresses . General enquires? It’s been a long day, maybe I am missing it on their contact page.

It should be just below their textphone number if they want to make it easy to find (I’m happy to look a fool by someone pointing out it is right in front of me).

For the record it is contact@ofcom.org.uk.
