We were just alerted to a policy event to be held in Paris on the 24th of November, by NPA Conseil. They say:

A few weeks before the presentation of a new draft of the Television
Without Frontiers directive, the Liverpool conference underlined the extent of
the controversies which surround Europe�s new audiovisual environment. Member
States, industry players and the European Commission still have difficulty
finding common ground on how to restrict advertising, what account should
betaken of new on-demand services, and how - if at all � the latter should be
required to support original programming or the industry itself.

Against this backdrop NPA Conseil and the French daily newspaper La Tribune
are organizing, in partnership with the Euronews TV network, the
French TV parliamentary channel Public S�nat and the Satellifax newsletter, a
European conference entitled: �Television without Frontiers: which framework for
TV in Europe ?� attended by James Purnell, the UK�s Minister for Creative
Industries and Tourism and Catherine Colonna, France�s Minister for European
affairs.
