Ofcom Announces Radio Spectrum Auction
Ofcom just announced a radio spectrum auction. Here are the key details:
Frequency band: 412-414 MHz, paired with 422-424 MHz
License: Covers the entire U.K.
Price: 50,000 reserve, so that’s the minimum price, and the auction will be single-round, sealed bid, with the highest bidder paying the price of the second highest bid. Get that?
Date: Spring 2006
Purpose: Ofcom say the band is ‘neutral’ - meaning no service or technical mandates
Also: Must coordinate use with MoD (adjacent channel licensee); and Ofcom is consulting on this auction, with responses to the consultation due by 24 November 2005.
