Local and Community Television in the United Kingdom: A New Beginning?

All comments (etc) welcome. The aim of the research is to generate a discussion around ‘media localisation’ analagous to that currently being played out in the United States… to begin a debate, rather than to define its terms of reference.

Chris, we should all look at your report with interest, but also note that the current Ofcom consultation on the ‘community radio fund’, ending 3 March, still exhibits a lack of converged thinking on community media. The Communications Act, after much lobbying by the Community Media Asssociation and Public Voice, specifically allowed for a converged ‘community media’ approach. I’d urge anyone with an interest to put a one line submission into the consultation asking Ofcom to consider the Fund as potentially applying to any community media, even if radio is the main initial beneficiary.
