Irish Telecoms Regulator Cuts LLU Process Charges

ComReg, the Irish telecoms regulator, has announced on Wednesday a significant reduction of the Local Loop Unbundling (LLU) Process Charges that Irish incumbent Eircom charges other operators. The charge is reduced to 58 from the current charge of 121.52, with the reduction to take effect on 1 February 2005. This decision is the latest in a series of recent LLU charges reductions by ComReg. On 5 November ComReg fixed Eircoms charge for full LLU at 14.65, representing a %13 reduction. On 12 November ComReg proposed a reduction in LLU Line Share Charges which, if indeed implemented without a change, will see a reduction from the current 9 to 0.39.
