The Digital Switch-Over: Ofcom should be more aggressive

Jan’s post of earlier today got me thinking. Sweden switched from driving vehicles on the left-hand side of the road to driving vehicles on the right-hand side of the road at one precise moment: 5 am on September 3, 1967 (so-called Dagen H, or H-Day). For those citizen-consumers-drivers-pedestrians that missed the Swedish government’s numerous Dagen H alerts in 2Q67, September 3rd would clearly have been a frightening day. Today, Sweden still mourns those who sacrificed their lives on Dagen H.

Clearly, Ofcom are being ninnies here. If Sweden can reverse nationwide traffic patterns in one day, Ofcom can arrange for the digital TV switch-over to occur, say, in one week. Puh-lease.
