Sunday Times On Johnson Appointment
Yesterday’s Sunday Times reported:
“Why are so many people grousing about the recent appointment by Ofcom of Luke Johnson as the chairman of Channel 4?
Meejah insiders, including one notable Labour lord, are wondering if it was a fix. Apparently, Stephen Carter, Ofcom’s chief exec, is a pal of Johnson’s. In fact, Johnson could bring a needed shake-up at C4. Exit its chief exec, Mark Thompson, to the Beeb as the next director-general?”
Ofcom Watch View: More conspiratorial still is the opening of a branch of Pizza Express - the company Johnson once owned - adjacent to the regulator in Southwark! Is it a Carter-Johnson fix-up or just a good business move what with 700+ people having recently moved in next door?
