Lunch With Roger Darlington
Lunch With Roger Darlington
I met Roger Darlington for lunch today. Roger is a member of Ofcom’s Consumer Panel and Chairman of the Internet Watch Foundation (IWF).
Roger also runs CommsWatch, a weblog that tracks policy and regulatory issues, developments and events relating to the UK’s communications sector. It also allows Roger to provide readers an overview of the meetings he attends or chairs at Ofcom and the IWF. The site is candid and insightful, and well worth a look.
CommsWatch also provides the facility to comment and Roger would be interested to hear from people in response to issues, particularly those impacting on individual consumers.
I think Roger will be a tremendous asset to the Ofcom Consumer Panel. He’s passionate about ensuring citizens and consumers get a fair deal, whilst looking to embrace new developments and ideas from industry, and advocating self-regulatory solutions to problems where possible.
In addition, as Chairman of the IWF he has a real understanding of the internet, its benefits, and its potential harms. This puts him in a key position to advise Ofcom, as the internet and traditional broadcasting models come together and consumers, through technology, are able to take control of their own family’s viewing.
