Tories Call For BBC To Be Brought Under Ofcom

With the Hutton Report providing them no real political ammunition the Conservatives have had to make do with repeating their calls for the BBC to be brought under Ofcom. A CCO press release states:

“In the aftermath of the Hutton Report and top level resignations at the BBC, the Conservative Leader repeated his appeal for a shake-up in the regulation of the Corporation, with the independent watchdog OFCOM taking on the role.”

But the BBC seemingly still have a friend in the Lib Dems. Don Foster, MP said:

“Even after the Hutton report, 10 Downing Street has not let up. They’ve now had their pound of flesh with the resignations of Gavyn Davies and Greg Dyke and a profuse apology from the BBC…The BBC can only remain independent if it is not suffocated by a climate of fear.”
