Bernard Wants To Switchoff
GWR Group’s executive chairman, Ralph Bernard, has called on the government to set a date for a switch-off of analogue radio transmissions.
Speaking at a GWR-organised digital radio forum, Bernard said “momentum is building” behind digital radio, citing strong sales of DAB receivers over Christmas as evidence that “the point at which all the factors are combining to push digital radio into the public consciousness as a product they need to have” is near.
Bernard has written to Ofcom’s Stephen Carter and the Department of Culture, saying that a digital radio switchover plan should be included in plans to manage the analogue TV switch-off.
